I-55 Investment Project: “A Avenue”: February 2025 Construction Update

From Shell to Shape

February was a transformative month on site as the project moved decisively toward internal fit-out. With major plastering underway and plumbing systems installed, the groundwork was laid for second fix work and kitchen installation. Here's what the team achieved this month.

Plastering Makes Progress Visible

The month began with extensive plasterboarding and plastering across bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces.

The master bedroom and its ensuite were fully boarded and plastered, along with ceilings and walls in the kitchen, dining room, and under the stairs.

Ceilings were dropped in the kitchen and dining room to prepare for lighting and final finishes. Window reveals were refined and wall straightening ensured smooth transitions between old and new structures.

Plumbing and Preparation for Second Fix

Major plumbing tasks were tackled in parallel with plastering. The team completed plumbing for the main bathroom, ran flow and return lines to the water manifold, and tested all pipework through ceilings and walls before boarding closed everything in.

Waste systems for the main bathroom were installed, including coring through to the external stack. By month’s end, floors upstairs were scraped and cleaned, ready for second fix joinery and flooring to begin in March.

Structural Advances and External Work

Externally, garage construction made key progress, with walls built up to wall plate level. Gables were also completed on the extension, bringing the structure to its full height and readying it for roofing.

Internal framing included building around steel beams to form bulkheads and installing the pocket door frame for an ensuite. Door openings were also cut to access the future utility room, improving internal flow.

Finishing Touches Begin

Late in the month, the kitchen was delivered, marking a milestone that shifts focus from infrastructure to installation and finishing. With the kitchen area now fully plastered and cleaned, it's ready for fit-out.

The team also addressed infrastructure needs such as a replacement for the temporary electric feed, ensuring that systems remain safely operational during ongoing work.

Looking Ahead

February closed with all the critical groundwork in place for interior finishes. With plastering largely complete and the kitchen on-site, March is set to feature rapid progress in painting, flooring, and second fix joinery. Stay tuned—next month will bring the vision to life, one room at a time.
